“We love Border Radio at the Pasadena Museum of History. They have played for two family events and our visitors thoroughly enjoyed them. Kelly McCune’s original compositions evoke important music traditions from America’s past. She sings personal songs which have general themes related to American life. As an added treat, her band is made up of fine musicians who play off each other’s talent and create a wonderful toe tapping musical experience.” Brad Macneil, Education Program Coordinator, Pasadena Museum of History
“Just letting you know that today I played Oklahoma Waltz. Again. It's the song with the 2nd biggest response I've had in the 2 years I've been doing the show...But Oklahoma Waltz is the only one that people have written me about weeks after I've played it, asked for it by name months later, and so on. It is a lovely song!” Richard Gordon, WNHU “Black Diamond Show,” West Haven, CT
"Kelly McCune...is now making a name for herself as one of the pre-eminent vocalists on the roots/Americana scene with her band, Border Radio." Paul Anderson, San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group
"Changing styles throughout their performance, Border Radio is a fusion of bluegrass, classic country and polka. They even created a musical style they dub "gypsygrass" which is a refreshing spin on traditional bluegrass...McCune serves as the vocal glue binding the music together...Border Radio brings their audience into an Americana fantasy where cowboys dance with pretty girls and couples get dressed up to break up...Although [other] bands...introduced country/bluegrass to the mainstream, not many recent acts have followed that lead. Border Radio has that potential, and with their talent, material and personality they just might start a new trend" Aaron Ziolkowski, Music Connection
"Border Radio is entertaining. That is enough. Musical acts are supposed to stand on stage and sing and play and send people home with the warm assurance that they have gotten full measure for their time and money. Border Radio does all of that and then some." Bob Stane, Coffee Gallery Backstage
Border Radio's...original songs...tell succinct stories, and are tuneful to boot. McCune's voice is ideal, with clear enunciation and a playful tone when needed." Dennis Roger Reed, FolkWorks
"Who doesn't honestly enjoy the sweet sounds of mandolin and fiddle with beautiful, unique female vocals? ...Border Radio invite you into their lush acoustic world, complete with a tight, well-crafted Americana feel." Rebecca Hill, Reviewer Magazine
"From their home in Southern California, this group should be known nationwide before long. Border Radio is a very talented group. McCune is an excellent vocalist and songwriter. She and Stromberg have provided some excellent material for the group. But they can perform other's works with equal care. The material is varied, from cowboy to jazz, but with a uniformly high quality of performance. I look forward to hearing more, much more." Bill Yates, Roots 66.com
"Anyone interested in some hot bluegrass/mountain music needs to check out this band, pronto. Border Radio first came to the attention of roots fans through an EP released last year which whetted the appetites of fans into simple, back porch picking with tons of talent and energy and fun to spare. This CD is even better, giving their fans a bigger, even more exciting look at the interesting, authentic-sounding blend of bluegrass and mountain music this talented foursome produces...I am slowly being converted into liking bluegrass music and this album is doing alot to help...4 stars." Scott Homewood, Freight Train Boogie
"Thank you so much for sending me the more than beautiful release from Border Radio. I’ve enjoyed listening to the beautiful songs and great music and I will give the disc regular airplay in my radio show “Roots Revival”, because they’re damned good." Ray Swennen, Roots Revival Radio Show, Belgium
"...a voice so sweetly vibrant and perfectly suited to Patsy Cline-style country...Border Radio's sound is defined by that voice." Bliss, Pasadena Weekly
"One of the best bands to emerge from Southern California...Deeply rooted in tradition, this is what country music is supposed to sound like.” Vicki Pepper, "Radio Rodeo with Darlin'” KUCI 88.9, Irvine, CA
"Surrounded by finger-picked banjo runs, mandolin charm and frenzies of slide guitar, McCune sings with sweet Patsy Cline-like swagger in songs like 'This Old Pen' and 'Sad Sound'...McCune's and Stromberg's richly harmonizing vocals are wide-eyed slices of their American roots." Kevin Felt, The Sunday Star, Pasadena, CA
"I'm a fan of rich harmonies and Border Radio is so good at them, it just makes me feel good all over when they break into 3-part harmony. Kelly has a sound and style that's irresistible...Border Radio is a band worth listening to for the sheer enjoyment of it. What a refreshing surprise it was for me to hear these well-written, well-played and sung songs. No wonder their fan base keeps growing." Harriet Schock, Songwriter/Recording Artist/Author
"In a time when Americans are searching for not only comfort but substance, this group delivers both. McCune's song 'Sad Sound" demonstrates her ability to write interesting lyrics. Her talent in delivering them with clarity is reminiscent of Patsy Cline's." Rebecca Redshaw, Notes From Hollywood.com
"Border Radio is a fantastic act. Their music is extremely well written and the song arrangements are done tastefully. Watch for this group to rise quickly to prominence in the Western Music scene." Jeffrey Barber, Autry National Museum
"...great songs with finely crafted arrangements in pure roots-Americana style.” Marc Nolis, RootsTown Music.com
